35hrs/week (daily unpiad 30min lunch totaling to 2.5hrs/week)nnThe Speech Language Pathologist Assistant assists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will have clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment related activities while working within the scope of responsibilities/ plan of care assigned by the Speech Language Pathologist and/or physician.nnEssential Duties and Responsibilities:nnProvides components of a speech and language program as specified in the treatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to state regulationsnnSelf-identifies as SLPA to families, students, patients, and district staffnnAssists the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretationnnAssists the SLP during assessment of students, exclusive of administration and/or interpretationnnAssists the SLP with bilingual translation during screening and assessment activities exclusive of interpretationnnProvides timely and accurate documentation of student performance and reports this information to the supervising SLPnnPrograms and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devicesnnDemonstrates or shares information with students, families, caregivers, and staff regarding feeding strategies developed and directed by the SLP as State Practice Acts permitnnMay adapt educational materials and equipment for the purpose of providing intervention and/or meeting the student needsnnMay serve as an interpreter for students, and families who do not speak EnglishnnProvides services under the supervision of the SLP in another language for individuals who do not speak English and English-language learnersnnMay assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLPnnCleans and maintains equipment used in the field in accordance with manufactures guidelinesnnReports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition of the student to the supervising SLP and alternate clinical designee as indicatednnMaintains communication with the district and other personnel caring for the student to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care within the scope of practicennMay participate in formal care conferences, parent conferences, and intra-disciplinary team meetings only with the presence of the supervising SLPnnSupports the supervising SLP in research projects, in-service training, public relations programs and marketing programsnnProvides information to emergency response agencies for individuals who have communication and/or swallowing disordersnnPromotes early identification and early intervention activitiesnnMay present primary prevention information to individuals or groups known to be at risk for communication disordersnnExhibits compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) andnnFamily Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulationsnnActively participates in the required supervision by a SLP to ensure quality of care to all persons servednnMinimum Requirements:nnMust be a graduate of a SLPA program with an associate’s degree, or have a bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders programnnSuccessful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent as required by state and/or contractnnCurrent certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of PracticennMust comply with accepted professional standards and practicennOne (1) year of prior professional Speech-Language Pathology Assistant experience preferred;nnComplies with all relevant professional standards of practicennParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programnnTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicablennCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)nnMust meet all federal, state and local requirementsnnSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job sitennUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsnnAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requirednnComputer proficiency requirednnMust be at least 18 years of agennBenefitsnnAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:nnCompetitive pay & weekly paychecksnnHealth, dental, vision, and life insurancenn401(k) savings plannnAwards and recognition programsnn*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.nnAbout AmergisnnAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
