Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application)

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services- - DSOHF Murdoch.
Health Care Technician I (HCT I) supports people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) that may have complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community. As an HCT you'll have the opportunity to take people on outings to various places in the community, teach people recreational skills, and support people with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

• A willingness to learn and carry out behavior support and coaching techniques that work for the people at Murdoch
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to help the people that live here
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with the people that live here and with coworkers
• Ability to anticipate hazards and perform all duties safely
• Ability to be able to communicate and document observations and recommendations effectively.
You will receive online and classroom training to teach: First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting, and specially developed training for working with intellectually disabled persons. In addition, you will receive unit-based training from an assigned mentor. Again, we will provide you with all the training that you'll need to be successful as an HCT. You must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Condition for Continued Employment
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listed as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
