About the Role - The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will lead various assignments and projects to achieve Zero Harm.
Responsibilities
- Engage the work force to drive cultural change and safety performance objectives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Review planned changes and new equipment installations.
- Support property risk by partnering with Facilities.
- Maintain and improve the corporate environmental management system.
- Collect environmental data for compliance and pollution prevention.
- Complete and submit applicable environmental reports.
- Participate in compliance with ISO14001 and ISO 45001.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste program.
- Coordinate air emission, wastewater, storm water, and waste auditing and testing.
- Present safety and environmental training programs.
- Apply knowledge of health and safety engineering processes.
- Conduct research and benchmarking for best practices.
- Identify and evaluate unsafe practices.
- Lead safety improvement projects.
- Measure and audit the effectiveness of EHS hazard control programs.
- Meet regularly with the Safety committee and union safety leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in either Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with high hazard controls in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience developing and driving a safety culture improvement plan.
- Skills and ability to be considered a Safety subject matter expert.
- Strong background in OSHA standards and compliance reporting requirements.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other related EHS certifications preferred.
- Experience working with ISO management systems preferred.
- Understanding and experience with behavior-based safety programs preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Safety Kaizens preferred.
