Akkodis is seeking a Restraints Design and Release (D&R) Safety engineer for a wonderful opportunity in Dearborn, Michigan.
Rate Range: $36.00/hour to $42.00/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
The Restraints Design and Release (D&R) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of restraints components and systems for both new and existing vehicle programs. The engineer will ensure that all parts meet corporate, regulatory, and quality standards, supporting timely part delivery, supplier management, and production quality.
This role requires a dynamic engineer who can lead restraints system development while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Design, develop, validate, and release restraints systems, subsystems, and components for assigned programs.
- Project Management: Manage project timing to ensure on-time part delivery for each program milestone.
- Documentation & Specifications: Release drawings and engineering specifications, and create Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) documents, Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), and other quality documents.
- Compliance & Quality Standards: Design parts to meet corporate and local requirements, including Worldwide Customer Requirements (WCR), Engineering Specifications (ES), and System Design Specifications (SDS).
- Supplier & Customer Feedback: Monitor supplier progress, and analyze customer feedback through our systems (WERS, FEDE, GPDS, Catia).
- Production & Assembly Support: Lead the incorporation of new designs and engineering changes at the Assembly Plant, collaborating with suppliers and assembly departments to resolve current production quality and manufacturing issues.
- Approval Processes: Support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for mass production, ensuring compliance with quality and manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Experience
- Required: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Design & Release (D&R) engineer.
- Preferred: Prior experience with restraints systems.
Skills
- Strong program management skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
