Job Summary:The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for collecting, cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing medical equipment and supplies for use in various medical procedures. This role ensures that all instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and ready for delivery to surgical and medical areas.Key Responsibilities:Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.Manually clean supplies to remove contaminants and waste matter; operate and maintain decontamination equipment.Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.Monitor and operate sterilization equipment to ensure effective processes.Examine supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.Test and report any issues or problems with sterilization equipment.Sterilize, prepare, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.Prepare and deliver all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures, including medical carts.Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and inventory of supplies.Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience, with proficiency in sterilization, case cart picking, and endoscope reprocessing.Experience in a Level 1 facility preferred, with exposure to decontamination, preparation, and packing processes.Ability to float to several areas within the hospital as needed.Certifications:Required certifications include CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) by IAHCSMM or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) by ASHCP.
