We craft unique dining experiences that highlight bold flavors, exceptional ingredients, and refined techniques.

Job Summary:
The Pastry Chef at Ostras is responsible for creating and executing dessert offerings that complement our Latin-Asian fusion concept. This role involves preparing high-quality pastries, confections, and plated desserts with innovative flavor combinations that enhance the guest experience. The Pastry Chef collaborates with the Executive Chef to maintain quality standards and seasonal dessert options, ensuring a seamless and elevated dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dessert Creation and Presentation:
    • Develop and prepare a range of desserts that align with the Latin-Asian fusion theme.
    • Create visually appealing plated desserts and confections that reflect high culinary standards.
    • Collaborate on seasonal dessert offerings that enhance the overall menu.
  • Quality Control and Consistency:
    • Ensure all desserts are prepared and presented with consistency and attention to detail.
    • Conduct regular tastings to maintain flavor balance and quality.
    • Monitor ingredient freshness and quality, adjusting recipes as needed.
  • Kitchen Organization and Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized pastry station, adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly maintained and sanitized.
    • Follow kitchen protocols for food safety and sanitation.
  • Inventory and Cost Management:
    • Manage inventory levels of pastry ingredients, ensuring efficient usage and minimal waste.
    • Assist in ordering ingredients and controlling costs within budget.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pastry or dessert preparation in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
    • Knowledge of Latin and/or Asian flavors is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong pastry and dessert preparation skills, with attention to detail in presentation.
    • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
    • Creative approach to flavor combinations and dessert presentation.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Positive attitude and passion for pastry arts.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Team player with strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to handle high-paced kitchen demands.
