See yourself here!About This Role: This position is responsible for:Inspecting commercial and residential structures to ensure compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other related codesExamining and evaluate construction documents for commercial, industrial, and residential projectsEducating property owners and tenants, building engineers, contractors, other government agencies, and citizens on regulations and the importance of building safetyMaintaining inspection reports using a county-provided laptop for added job mobilityPerforming administrative work associated with inspection reports, construction documents, and data entry. Your primary functions in this privileged role will include: Performing mechanical and gas inspections of residential, commercial or industrial construction projects for compliance with applicable National, State and Local Code requirementsPerforming project research and data entry for documenting inspection resultsAssisting customers in navigating the different processes required for inspecting construction related Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related Mechanical Construction experiencePreferences: 3 or more years of Mechanical Construction experienceExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsWorking knowledge of the Virginia Mechanical CodeAbility to read and interpret construction plans and documents Work Schedule: This position works Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)Special Requirements: Valid Driver's LicenseAbility to pass a DMV Records CheckCompletion of a successful pre-employment physicalMust become certified by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official within 18 months of employment.
