Position Responsibilities:
•Assists patients with environmental difficulties that interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care.
•Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, patients, relatives and outside agencies. Promotes the best quality support for the patient through the surrounding work team.
•Facilitates or provides necessary patient and family education at admission, during hospital stay, and upon discharge, as indicated.
•Complies with current Hospital security and safety polices.
•Reports incidents to supervisor and Risk Management department within required timeframe in accordance with medical center policy.
•Is available to participate as a member of either Team A or Team B of the Hurricane Activation Plan, as assigned.
•Follows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes.
•Participates in all related functions or administrative projects on an on going basis.
•Coordinates the day-to-day activities for the assigned team &All other tasks as assigned.
•Provides direct assistance to the Manager and Director as requested.Ensures the implementation of administrative duties as assigned by the Director or Manager.
•Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with co-workers and other members of the hospital.
•Is available to participate as a member of either Team A or Team B of the Hurricane Activation Plan, as assigned.
Qualifications:
•3 - 5 years experience in patient/healthcare relations or human services field (e.g. nursing, teaching, counseling), preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
•Bachelors degree in related discipline preferred.
