Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in payroll processing and understanding of payroll laws and regulations across the United States. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to timelines.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of payroll laws, regulations and tax requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Operate and maintain payroll systems and software (Ceridian Dayforce), including entering and updating employee information, tracking hours and calculating deductions.
  • Maintain and organize payroll records, including timesheets, tax forms and other employee documentation.
  • Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies related to payroll, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
  • Prepare payroll reports and summaries, including wage analysis, tax withholding summaries and benefits deductions.
  • Assist in internal and external payroll audits by providing necessary records and reports.
  • Identify areas for process improvement to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of payroll experience required, experience with multi-state payroll processing a plus
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards related to payroll systems and employee benefits
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles related to payroll processing
  • Familiarity with payroll systems; experience with Ceridian Dayforce payroll system preferred
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information
  • Detail oriented and able to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Highly proficient with MS Office software and a high aptitude for Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service mindset
