Salary:Starting at $24.54/hr to $36.80/hr depending on experience and education.
The Quality Microbiologist on 2nd shift (10 am - 6:30pm)
Essential Functions:
  • Ability to communicate change effectively and build a commitment to overcome resistance to change. Monitors transition and evaluates results.
  • Balances group and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others. Contributes to building a positive employee relations environment. Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate micro-testing results.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Collaboration with Quality and Production Supervisors.
  • Responsible for verification of micro data and results.
  • Manage and train microbiology analyst.
  • Responsible for further testing of positive micro results and follow up.
  • Responsible for shipment of lab samples for 3rd party testing.
  • Responsible for special orders for customer specifications.
  • Acting plant Chemist and Hygienist.
  • Responsible for Food Quality.
  • Performs plating of samples per customer requirements.
  • Performs air and water samples plating at prescribed frequency.
  • Performs sugar samples plating at prescribed frequency.
  • Keeps Microbiology records in proper log book for review and log results into RealSPC.
  • Packs and sends samples out per customer request.
  • Maintains the equipment needed for Microbiology tests.
  • Maintains inventory for Microbiology Lab.
  • Issues product releases as instructed by Management.
  • Communicates with the supplier to resolve quality issues.
  • Reports food safety and quality problems to Plant Management and SQFP to initiate action
  • Performs other duties as requested by Management.
  • Provide effective planning, organizing and prioritizing project skills.
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • RealSPC experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow complex written instructions.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Experience in laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work without close supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand different units of measure and record information.
  • Good safety knowledge and safety record.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality.
  • Possess strong diplomacy and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively and appropriately to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Proven experience with best practices and quality.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter and a team player

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science (B.Sc.) from a four year college or university is preferred.
  • RealSPC experience is preferred.
  • Experience in laboratory environment is preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Physical- Continuously standing or walking.
  • Visual/Sensory- This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive.
  • Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
