Role Overview:
We are hiring an Event Manager to lead the production of a large-scale public-facing event. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the action, acting as the primary point of contact at AccessNow. You’ll oversee all aspects of the event, from big-picture planning to the smallest details, collaborating with internal teams, sponsors, vendors, and city officials. We’re looking for someone with a creative spark who can think outside the box, bring fresh ideas to the table, and elevate the event experience. You should thrive in working independently to drive results while also excelling in a team environment, building strong relationships to ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
This is a contract position based in Toronto with a hybrid work structure (remote with occasional on-site work).
Key Responsibilities:
- Festival Expertise : Use your experience in producing public-facing events or festivals to craft an engaging and memorable experience for attendees.
- Creative Thinking : Innovate and bring fresh ideas to the event’s design and execution, pushing boundaries to deliver a unique festival experience.
- Event Production : Oversee the coordination and execution of all event components, including logistics, programming, and on-site operations.
- Public Engagement : Ensure the event is inclusive, engaging, and accessible to a broad audience, creating a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as the main liaison for internal teams, sponsors, vendors, and city officials to foster alignment and build successful partnerships.
- City Coordination : Work closely with the City of Toronto to secure permits, adhere to municipal guidelines, and develop strong relationships.
- Budget Management : Manage the event budget, tracking financial performance and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Vendor Relations : Source, negotiate, and coordinate vendors for staging, catering, activities, and other event services.
- Project Planning : Develop detailed timelines, site plans, and run-of-show documents to guide the event’s progress from start to finish.
- On-Site Leadership : Take charge on event day, overseeing setup, operations, and teardown to ensure flawless execution.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing large-scale public events or festivals.
- Ability to think creatively and bring innovative ideas to event planning and execution.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building strong relationships and managing diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks while excelling in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience managing budgets and negotiating vendor contracts.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusion in events is highly desirable.
- Experience working within the city of Toronto or with municipal partnerships is a strong asset.
Contract Details:
- Duration : 6–8 months (with potential for extension)
- Location : Hybrid (remote with occasional on-site work in Toronto, including the event date)
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
- Start Date : As soon as possible
