Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Specific tasks includes rapidly identifying and counting small insects under stereo microscope magnification, assist with insect colonies, plant seeds/seedlings and other duties related to entomological research. When samples (either frozen or in alcohol) are collected and in storage, the samples will be processed in scheduled time each week. Colonies and the plants that maintain these colonies need to be checked twice weekly. Other duties will be determined in a weekly lab meeting.

Position Summary
The vegetable entomology research laboratory conducts investigation into how pest insects affect vegetable productivity in Georgia and how to best control these pests.

Physical Demands
Looking through the stereo microscope for hours at a time in order to do the insect counts. Lifting soil tubs and standard potting trays with full pots. Driving.
