Consider joining our team as a Vice President, Wastewater Engineer for our California District. This position can be located out of the following California offices: San Diego, Sacramento, Irvine, Los Angeles or San Francisco . WSP USA operates with a flexible Hybrid-Workplace Model. Your primary role will be to lead technical project delivery, provide technical quality reviews, to guide key technical design decisions and make recommendations to our clients that will guide future ready infrastructure solutions for our largest wastewater clients on our most complex projects. You will collaborate with our dedicated, local design teams, while being supported by our international expertise. You’ll work with water, geotechnical, tunneling and transportation engineers, and environmental and permitting experts. Through your technical expertise, you would excel at building relationships with our clients, becoming their trusted partner.

    Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the engineering discipline and function, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work site deliverables are successfully achieved within the business sector.

    Perform high-level professional engineering relating to complex wastewater infrastructure projects for our largest wastewater clients in the California District.

    Serve as a technical subject matter expert in water/wastewater applications on water and wastewater conveyance, treatment, and pump station design projects guiding design approach and activities.

    Coordinate, review and approve of infrastructure design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

    Be active in local professional organizations and remain current in latest water engineering techniques.

    Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of environmental problems and programs.

    Actively foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.

    Ensure that engineering discipline certifications, accreditations, and value proposition is developed and continuously improved.

    Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the engineering discipline’s function with business and project strategy, identifying and addressing any skill gaps or risks within the sector business operations.

  • n

    Schedule engineering discipline meetings, providing updates and recommendations to ensure that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to inculcate discipline expertise and innovation into project work.

    Serve as one of the engineering discipline’s lead representatives/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.

    Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics – and accountable for planning, development and management of projects in compliance with all applicable City/State/federal codes and regulations, and in accordance with all acceptable engineering practices.

    Provide verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.

    Develop a client base for providing high level water resources engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.

    Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.

    Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.

    Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

n
    n
  • n

    Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Wastewater or closely related discipline.

    n
  • n
  • n

    12+ years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).

    n
  • n
  • n

    Proficient knowledge of water/wastewater engineering principles, models, and technologies.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Advanced proficiency with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

  • n
  • n

    Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in Engineering.

    Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.

Compensation:

n

Expected Salary (all locations): $146,700 - $240,790

n

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
