Job Description
Purpose of Position: Under supervision of Chief, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapist will administer treatment as prescribed by physiatrist.
Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines.
2. Successfully completes the mandatory three-day HHC orientation.
3. Adheres and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
4. Perform thorough occupational therapy evaluations utilizing appropriate methods.
5. Discuss patient treatment and specific problems with OT supervisory personnel.
6. Performs appropriate treatment involving therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and other modalities.
7. Keeps accurate records of patient evaluations, progress, recommendations, and goals.
8. Attends rounds and clinics appropriate to area assignment.
9. Keeps daily attendance record of patients.
10. Educates patient and/or family regarding the occupational therapy aspects of diagnosis, treatment plan and prognosis in an appropriate manner.
11. Establishes measurable, realistic goals based on the needs and age of patients.
12. Participates in clinical teaching as a clinical instructor for OT students.
13. Ability to communicate effectively with the patients in both an oral and written fashion.
14. Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth.
15. Adheres to the departmental attendance policy.
16. All other duties as required by the department.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license and current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
