Licensed Practical Nurse Education and Experience Requirements:

n- Completion of state approved training program (generally in the form of a diploma, certificate, or associate degree)
n- LPN license (pass NCLEX-PN exam)
n- BLS certification 1-2 years recent nursing experience preferred

JOB DUTIES
n
n- Conducts focused nursing assessment and contributing to the ongoing comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient performed by the RN.
n- Collaborates in the development and modification of the RN's comprehensive nursing plan of care for all types of patients.
n- Implements aspects of the plan of care.
n- Participates in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients.
n- Serves as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service personnel.
n- Participates in the evaluation of patient responses to interventions.
n- Communicates and collaborates with other health care professionals.
n- Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
n- Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
n- Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
n- Provides routine care for patients.
n- Observes patients’ health.
n- Reviews medical charts.
n- Assists physicians and registered nurses.
n- Communicates with patients and their families.
n- Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and Doppler.
n- Administers medications (no IV medications)
n- Provides wound care.
n- Prepares administers or enemas.
n- Assists with patient comfort.
n- Monitors catheters.
