Restaurant General Manager at NYC Boutique Hotel
Compensation Range 100k – 120k
The Role:
The primary role of the General Manager of the restaurant will be to lead the managers and staff in providing quality service to guests, and to ensure a positive and safe working environment. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, is passionate about hospitality, and has the ability to manage all aspects of restaurant operations.
The space and character of the restaurant will be cool, downtown, and elegant, with a sophisticated clientele serving French Cuisine that is both accessible and refined.
Primary Responsibilities and Goals:
- Hire and Train all FOH staff
- Create and update Training documents (as needed) to ensure all staff are properly trained
- Schedule all FOH staff according to staffing needs
- Establish systems for ordering operating supplies, as well as liquor, wine, beer, and NA beverage to guarantee the restaurant does not run out of any items
- Submit Payroll in a timely manner each week (Monday)
- Oversee Events and Large Reservations or Parties
- Respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
- Ensure Beverage and other Costs are in line with expectations, including monthly Beverage Inventory
- Be up to date on all necessary permits, and any other operating requirements
- Take responsibility for all hours of the restaurant being open, and ensure other managers are trained and capable in their roles and capacities
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of NYC Restaurant management experience
- Positive attitude, with the ability to work under pressure while remaining patient and polite and ability to maintain grace and composure during high-volume shifts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, and to work on the fly when the situation arises
- Experience with team-building and ability to solve staff conflict, if and when it occurs
- Ability to work on the floor and be on your feet for extended periods of time
- You must have a current NYC Food Handler certificate, or must obtain one within a month of hire
- A love or passion for food, restaurants and dining
- Some working knowledge of Wine, Spirits and Beer is not mandatory, but would be of great benefit
- Flexible schedule and weekend availability
