Job Summary:
The Director of Health and Wellness leads the strategic design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization’s health and welfare, wellness, absence management, and retirement benefit programs. This role ensures that programs align with the organization’s strategic goals, promote employee well-being, and maintain compliance with applicable regulations. The Director collaborates across departments to deliver competitive and innovative solutions that enhance employee engagement, retention, and organizational performance. The position reports to the VP of Total Rewards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, and wellness initiatives, including medical, prescription drug, vision, dental, life, AD&D, disability, absence management, FSA, and defined contribution programs.
- Design wellness programs that foster a culture of health, improve employee engagement, and address organizational well-being goals.
- Continuously evaluate benefit and wellness offerings to ensure competitiveness, value, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Maintain compliance with policies, regulations, and reporting requirements, including overseeing audits and preparing state and federal filings.
- Manages the Company’s benefit plans with proper financial controls, accurate records, and compliant procedures (including leading the annual audit of plans).
- Oversee benefit programs’ financial integrity by implementing robust controls and ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
- Manage vendor partnerships, lead contract negotiations, and ensure vendors meet service-level expectations
- Lead annual open enrollment, including plan design updates, communication strategy, system updates, and employee education campaigns.
- Create year-round communications to promote benefits and wellness offerings, increase awareness, and address employee inquiries.
- Support due diligence and integration of benefit and wellness programs in mergers and acquisitions to ensure seamless transitions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the benefits and wellness team to achieve high performance and engagements
- Partner with HR, Legal, Finance, and HRIS teams to optimize administration, ensure compliance, and integrate Workday functionality.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to design and deliver innovative and competitive benefits and wellness programs.
- Experienced in analytical and quantitative analysis, with advanced expertise in MS Excel.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of change management principles.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years focused on health and wellness program design and administration.
- Experience implementing and administering benefits programs in Workday.
- Expertise in multi-state benefit regulatory requirements, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA compliance.
- Proven success in designing and managing wellness programs aligned with organizational goals.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to travel monthly or quarterly; may fluctuate based on business needs
- Majority (90%) of work is conducted indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
