Job Description

I work directly with a world leading manufacturer of advanced technology and optical connectivity solutions, and we're excited to add a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to our expanding team. Location: Akron, Pennsylvania (relocation provided for those not local to area!)

Salary: $110-140K base + $10-$20K annual bonus


Position Overview: Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team, providing mentorship and training to ensure team success. Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to launch new products and improve existing operations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Oversee the integration of new equipment and technologies to optimize manufacturing capabilities. Manage the department budget, ensuring resource allocation aligns with cost control objectives. Provide technical support to resolve complex manufacturing issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the MFG Engineering Manager: 5-7 Direct Reports, annual performance review of their reports.
  • Lead the design, documentation, and tooling/fixture development for prototypes, pre-series, and volume production.
  • Build and test engineering samples and prototypes, generating feasibility reports.
  • Initiate process development and collaborate with Process Engineering.
  • Organize and maintain the tool shop, including inventory management and tool verification.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, RF testers, HiPot, Continuity testers, and mechanical testers.
  • Define packaging and labeling for new parts, unless specified by customers.
  • Provide advanced technical support to Production, Quality, and Maintenance departments.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of CAD system.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Connectors and cable assemblies Manufacturing process.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of 2-5 years in a managerial role.
