JOB FUNCTION:

1. This position should be a person who has a significant knowledge of most repairs, overhauls, and maintenance of equipment.
n
2. This person is usually capable of working alone and with minimal supervision
n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

n
1. Performs PM Inspections.
n
2. Performs Post Trip Inspections.
n
3. Repairs and replaces tires, clutches and brakes.
n
4. Performs complete engine overhaul.
n
5. Completes differential, transmission and driveline overhead.
n
6. Repair and replacement of any bolt on item.
n
7. Complete inspection and repair of all special equipment.
n
8. Major electrical repair.
n
9. Performs mentorship/training to lower level mechanics.
n
10. May be required to work temporarily at field locations maintaining/repairing equipment.
n
11. Performs other duties as directed.
n

Required Skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

n
1. Ability to carry/lift up to 75 lbs.
n
2. Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves heavy manual labor.
n
3. Ability to maintain alertness and acuity that is not typically impaired by any medication, diet, or physical condition.
n
4. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, sit and maneuver in confined spaces.
n
5. Ability to wear respirators in environments that may expose you to chemicals, fumes, etc.
n
6. Ability to maintain workloads that may include travel to a variety of states for days or weeks, and daily timeframes that could exceed the typical 8-hour shift. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
n
7. Must be able to determine how to weld/repair equipment in the most effective manner.
n
8. Must determine safest method of performing job. Must be able to work in reflected heat of welding equipment
n

Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

n
1. 2 Years of technical school, or on the job experience preferred.
n
2. High school education acceptable.
n
3. Specific exposure to an equipment or maintenance environment.
n
4. Knowledge of basic hand tools for general equipment repair.
n
5. Equipment systems experience a plus.
n
6. Must have effective oral and written communications effective listening skills, and ability to interact with others.
n
7. Professional oral and written interpersonal communication ideal.
n
8. 3-4 years of diesel shop experience acceptable.
n
9. 4 or more years of diesel shop experience preferred.
n
