Overall Responsibility:
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day quality management system at the plant, ensuring that product quality, manufacturing process capability, and performance targets are consistently met. This role focuses on driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and optimize work practices, maintaining AMTB's competitive advantage in the industry. The Quality Manager will also lead and mentor the Quality department, fostering individual and team development while supporting the execution of key projects. By applying deep quality and technical knowledge, this role ensures alignment with broader ArcelorMittal business processes and long-term organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
APQP Process Support:
- Lead and support the APQP process to ensure timely and effective delivery of high-quality products.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer and supplier PPAP documentation is compliant and complete.
Supplier Management & Integration:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure compliance with AMTB quality requirements.
- Oversee new program integration activities, ensuring alignment with customer and supplier expectations.
- Communicate AMTB quality specifications, supplier manuals, and any deviations to supplier staff.
Quality Specifications & Compliance:
- Interpret and enforce AMTB quality specifications and the Supplier Manual across the supply chain.
- Support suppliers in achieving compliance with AMTB quality standards, guiding them through corrective actions when needed.
Document Control & Compliance (IATF 16949):
- Lead and maintain the document control process in compliance with IATF 16949 standards.
- Manage document records with IQS and implement procedures to ensure they align with industry requirements.
- Provide training to teams on standards and AMTB requirements related to document control.
Nonconformance Control:
- Ensure containment and control of nonconforming products within the supply chain.
- Oversee and control nonconforming material inventory at AMTB, suppliers, and throughout the value chain.
- Lead teams in the identification and resolution of nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
Layered Process Audits (LPA):
- Ensure regular performance of Layered Process Audits (LPA) to monitor product and process quality.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure open audit items are addressed and closed within a timely manner.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction activities to enhance product quality and optimize production systems.
- Support process optimization and drive actions to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product consistency.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Take a leadership role in developing and mentoring the Quality department, fostering a collaborative environment for the team to thrive.
- Provide coaching and support for individual team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a quality management role within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, APQP, PPAP, and control plans.
- Prior Stamping and/or Blanking experience
- Experience working within a press shop environment preferred, but not required
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complex projects and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in nonconformance management and corrective actions.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, CQE) is a plus.
- Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the HSE Management Standards, ISO 14001 & 45001 Management Systems.
- Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
- Promotes adherence of AMTB's Core Values
- Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
