Quality Manager


Position Summary:

This position is responsible for developing/supporting plans and directing activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of inspections, quality standards, customer satisfaction, and operating systems compliance. This is a Full Time, Direct Hire Opportunity In Plymouth, MI!


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead all actions regarding Cost of Poor Quality activities, external and internal PPM measures, customer score card accuracy, and external and internal corrective action initiatives throughout the entire manufacturing process, including supplier concerns
  • Lead the process for maintaining a strong internal Process Auditing system
  • Lead the process for maintaining all quality related certifications (IATF, ISO, & AS9100)
  • Ensure good standing with all customer requirements related to quality performance
  • Travel to customer and supplier facilities proactively and reactively, based on the nature of the situation
  • Lead daily communication of customer satisfaction to the production management team, as well as hourly personnel as needed in daily production meeting
  • Lead the disposition of non-conforming material on a perpetual basis, using the MRB methodology. Support the entire plants involvement to successfully maintain a manageable environment
  • Support the process of dimensional layout and evaluation of production parts, samples, and prototypes as required by the quality system.Provide feedback on dimensional concerns to the tool room, engineering and manufacturing
  • Lead your team of Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians to effectively drive Root Cause analysis with direct communication of the results to customers. Support of corrective action development and effective implementation
  • Work with production associates to assure the proper usage of measurement instruments on the production floor
  • Maintain the gage calibration system
  • Assist in the design and development of new quality gages and equipment
  • Perform special quality studies as required by management and customer requirements
  • Write reports for customer review and create presentations and present to customer and management when required
  • Create and maintain all required documents for PPAP as well as lead APQP on new programs with program management. Including supplier requirements and approval of new suppliers with purchasing
  • Lead all APQP activities from feasibility reviews to successful new product quality launch, including customer buy offs as required with DCMA / DOD
  • Ensure safe launch requirements are achieved on all new product launches
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • Assist in the Die Tryout Process
  • Assist in the Assembly production
  • Create/Update Control plans for all manufacturing products
  • Create/update FMEAs for all manufacturing products
  • Lead QOS monthly meetings (management review) and ensure all slides are completed and turned in on time from all department heads

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University
  • Three years of related experience and/or training
  • Welding Experience
  • Military project experience highly preferred
  • Certifications: American Society for Quality CQE, CQA, SSGB, SSBB encouraged
  • Proficient with PcDmis (Programming and running) encouraged
  • Proficient with Datapage /Dataview encouraged
  • Proficiency in reading/comprehending part prints, gages, and CAD.
  • Must be able to use Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic office equipment
  • Certified lead auditor for IATF, ISO: 9001, ISO: 14001
  • AIAG Core tools Certified
  • Layered Process audits Certified
  • GD&T Expertise
  • Understanding of Blank/Progressive/Transfer Dies
  • Designs of Tools for Blank/Progressive/transfer Dies
  • Forming / Simulation Analysis review
  • Maintaining the “First/Last piece off” review of parts
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Experience with basic computer systems
  • Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra
