Employment Counsel (Junior level)

Location: New York, NY or Edison, NJ (candidate should be willing to go to one of these office locations at least 3 days a week)


Job Description

Our client is looking for a junior employment law attorney with experience litigating and advising on domestic employment law issues. The successful candidate will be part of a small Employment Law team, report to the Deputy General Counsel – Head of Legal, Americas, and Deputy Head of Legal - USA, and provide legal support to our human resources department.


Responsibilities:

•Provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, guidance, assistance and counseling.

•Work with HR to help manage and respond to employee relations issues, investigations and grievances.

•Review disciplinary actions and terminations with HR.

•Assist in managing responses to subpoenas and document requests.

•Respond to administrative complaints and Department of Labor investigations.

•Respond to EEOC and other complaints of discrimination.

•Assist with employment law litigation matters.

•Recommend, implement and continuously improve employment law related training.

•Maintain employment law files and databases.

•Other matters as directed by Head of Legal, Americas and/or Deputy Head of Legal – USA.


Qualifications:

•Three to five years of experience focused on employment law and litigation, preferably with some experience in-house.

•A law degree from a top tier law school and in good standing to practice in any state in the United States.

•Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.

•Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

•Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team as well as cross-functionally across teams.

•Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.

•Ability to interact with HR teams and other legal team members
