Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a part-time interim employment and investigations attorney.
Overview : Our client is seeking an interim employment attorney for immediate part-time work of 10-15 hours/week for 3-6+ months.
Company: Client is a global supplier of custom food products and proteins to leading foodservice and retail food brands.
Location: Hybrid onsite 1 day/week in Aurora, IL area.
Experience and Qualifications:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and licensure in Illinois
- 6-15+ years of employment counsel experience
- Experience with investigations including on sensitive matters
- Experience with early case assessment including reviewing documents, identifying gaps, and preparing related statements
- Intake and triage of incoming employment cases/claims
- Experience working with and counseling HR on employment issues and matters
Additional “nice to have” experience :
- Dealing with subpoenas, wrinkles in garnishment cases, requests for employee personnel files.
- Terminations
- Experience taking the lead on high level case assessments and preparing issue statements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing and handling employment and investigation matters
- Intake and triage in employment cases.
- Investigations – including sometimes highly sensitive matters
- Early case assessment – reviewing docs, identifying gaps in the documents
- Intake and triage of cases that come in. Cases can include allegations of harassment and retaliation
- Dealing with subpoenas, garnishment cases, and requests for employee personnel files
- Terminations
- Counseling and coaching HR through employment relations matters and on investigations
