Real Estate Legal Counsel is needed for an expanding legal team in downtown Chicago. The attorney will have direct responsibility for providing corporate, transactional, and litigation legal support. The attorney will review a variety of contracts including property management agreements.
Some responsibilities include:
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex regional and global outsourcing agreements related to real estate, facility management, transaction management, project management, lease administration, property management, and consulting.
- Understand, mitigate, and advise on complex contractual risks to increase efficiency and stability in contracting.
- Advise and maintain open communication with internal clients regarding legal implications of proposed transactions.
- Manage pre-litigation strategy and dispute resolution process for contract performance issues.
- Oversee litigation matters in coordination with outside counsel.
- Collaborate with Counsel and internal business clients to implement risk management strategies, negotiation strategies, and adhere to corporate policies and directives.
- Research, analyze and stay up-to-date on legal issues, laws, and regulations affecting the real estate industry and real estate service providers.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on procurement activities and compliance matters.
Qualifications:
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar.
- Minimum of five years of proven experience in a sophisticated law firm or corporate legal department.
- Extensive experience in drafting, negotiating, and analyzing contracts.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of real estate industry laws and regulations is a plus.
