JOB SUMMARY
Executive leader and a member of the Volk Board, the VP of Operations and Supply Chain oversees the development and execution of both strategic and tactical goals, objectives, and performance metrics related to manufacturing and supply chain operations.
This hands-on role entails full accountability for the operations at the Mentor, Ohio facility, leading teams across all operational departments, including supply chain, planning, materials, and lens production. The VP ensures that customer expectations, employee needs, and executive objectives are consistently met.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Leadership of Operations : Oversee Volk's ophthalmic lens and digital imaging operations to ensure timely order manufacturing while exceeding quality standards, delivering exceptional "white glove" service to customers.
- LEAN Implementation : Serve as the LEAN champion, leading the implementation and embedding LEAN principles throughout the organization. Accountable for GM and Overhead improvements year over year through continuous improvement and capital projects.
- Strategic Alignment : Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational strategies with the company’s strategic plans and budget.
- Solutions-Oriented Operations : Drive innovation, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, and production excellence to achieve competitive costing and operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all operations meet Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations by implementing value-driven solutions.
- Business Intelligence : Utilize data-driven solutions to enhance labor efficiency, improve product quality, and provide analytical insights for operational decision-making.
- Standards and Certifications : Maintain full compliance with industry standards, certifications, and audits to uphold operational integrity.
- Team Development : Foster a high-performing team by developing individuals to achieve organizational goals while aligning with company culture and values.
- Budget Management : Develop and manage operating and capital budgets to achieve both short- and long-term revenue and profitability targets.
- Integration Leadership : Lead the integration of potential acquisitions, aligning them with the organization’s culture and operational processes.
- Capital Planning : Develop and execute a capital equipment plan, including identifying investments, building business cases, securing approvals, and implementing projects.
- New Product Launches : Ensure successful implementation of new processes and procedures from engineering into operations during product launches.
- Work Environment : Create an engaging, productive workplace while addressing performance issues in coordination with Human Resources as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Build strong relationships across departments, promoting an understanding of operational drivers while advocating for a cohesive, aligned organizational culture where operations serves as the heartbeat of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive Leadership Experience : Minimum of 10 years in production, manufacturing, or operations management in a leadership role.
- LEAN Certification : Proven expertise in Lean principles and methodologies to improve operations, drive down cost, and increase productivity.
- Operational Process Development : Skilled in creating, analyzing, reviewing, and implementing guidelines and procedures across global operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, and health & safety, as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operational Excellence : Track record of driving cost improvements, enhancing quality, and improving on-time delivery by fostering lean environments.
- Automation Expertise : Experience in creating automated and digitized operations environments, including implementing robotics, automated data collection, and communication systems.
- Simplification Mindset : Focused on impactful outcomes through the application of 80/20 and lean principles.
- Change Leadership : Expertise in championing organizational change and leading cross-functional teams through both direct and indirect leadership to transform the business.
- Supply Chain Optimization : Proven ability to optimize working capital within a supply chain structure.
- Inspirational Leadership : Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, inspiring and motivating team members while seamlessly transitioning between leader and collaborator roles. Strong communication skills at all levels.
- Strategic Vision : Ability to articulate a long-term vision for operations and drive key success factors forward.
- Team-Oriented : Deep commitment to being part of a winning team, with a history of motivating and influencing direct reports through example and leadership.
- Regulatory Experience : Background in managing operations in highly regulated industries. Working knowledge of ISO 13485, MDR, and FDA requirements.
