MRI technologists must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly, and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.nnA caregiver in this position works 12:30pm - 11:00pm.nnA caregiver who excels in this role will:nnPerform MRI scans as prescribed by physicians.nnInterview patients to obtain needed information and provide education to the patient about their scan.nnMaintain constant patient contact during scan and respond accordingly to patient reactions such as claustrophobic reactions.nnProvide MRI information to patients, families, physicians and other appropriate people.nnAssist in developing new techniques and procedures relating to MRI.nnSchedule procedures to ensure proper time allotment.nnConduct facility tours and demonstrate equipment for visitors.nnRemain abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.nnAssist in other areas of Radiology, if needed, if there is no other work in the MRI section.nnComply with all Radiology Information System entry (including PACS) requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.nnEnsure the safety of everyone in the MRI area through limited access, screening, and proper bloodborne pathogen precautions.nnInject contrast material by intravenous puncture or established intravenous.nnAssist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect.nnProvide supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures.nnReview images with students on request and provide quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.nnComplete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.nnMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:nnGraduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT.nnRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.nnCertification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in magnetic resonance imaging within 24 months of appointment.nnBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).nnCurrent knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging techniques and parameters.nnPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:nnThree years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.nnOne year of experience in computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging.nnOur caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
