DescriptionnnJob SummarynnThe CT Technologist performs the computed tomography examination to produce images of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist.nnEssential Job FunctionsnnRegular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance.nnCollect pertinent data about the patient and procedure.nnReconfirm the patient's identification and verifies the physician's order.nnAssure that the proper screening protocol is completed prior to patient entering scan room.nnVerify the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.nnProvide information to the patient about the procedure.nnVerify the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions.nnProvide accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and a at a level the patient can understandnnAnalyze the information during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.nnDetermine whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure.nnAssess factors that may contraindicate procedure such as medications or insufficient patient preparation.nnSelect appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.nnReview the patient's chart/physician order to determine optimal scanning parameters for suspected pathology.nnAdminister contrast agents according to established guidelinesnnObtain written consent prior to IV/oral contrast administration.nnEvaluate lab values prior to administering contrast agents.nnDetermine appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered.nnComplete oral contrast screening form when needed.nnObtain optimum images during scan.nnReformat images as needed to better visualize anatomy or pathology according to established guidelines.nnSend images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist.nnArchive images to CD or data storage device as needed.nnDocument information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record.nnVerify correct order is entered into RIS.nnDocument appropriate patient history into PACS system.nnDocument any exceptions from the established guidelines.nnScan appropriate documents into PACS system.nnComplete medication reconciliation documentation per department policy.nnFacilitate correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done in a timely manner.nnWork with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders.nnMaintain equipment workstation in optimum condition.nnPerform daily QC on CT equipment.nnAssure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.nnReport equipment malfunction to service provider.nnImplement downtime procedures when necessary.nnCoordinate rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.nnInitiate established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.nnCognitive ability to function and concentrate on the essential and specialty functions of the job at a high level.nnAchieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing an essential or specialty function of the job.nnAbility to think and concentrate for an entire shift.nnOther duties as assigned.nnRequired QualificationsnnCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by ARRT.nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.nnPreferred QualificationsnnSix (6) months experience as a CT Tech within the past 2 years or 6 months experience as a Staff Technologist.nnCompletion of advanced level exam in CT with RT(CT) credentialing.nnLicense, Certification & ClearancesnnCurrent Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).nnAdvanced-level CT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) in computed tomography by June 30, 2018. After June 30, 2018, newly hired or cross trained CT technologists must obtain advanced level CT certification within 12 months of hire date.nnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.nnAct 33 with renewal.nnAct 34 with renewal.nnAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.nnSupervisory ResponsibilitiesnnThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.nnPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorknnRegular, consistent, on-site and timely attendance.nnIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).nnTravel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.nnLEANnnActively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of LEAN principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements.
