DescriptionnnJob SummarynnThe Radiology Technologist will produce radiographs of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist.nnEssential Job FunctionsnnRegular, consistent, on-site, and timely attendance.nnCollect pertinent data about the patient and procedure.nnReconfirm patient's identification and verifies the physician's order.nnReview the patient's chart and/or the physician's order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology.nnVerify the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.nnProvide information to the patient about the procedure.nnVerify the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions.nnProvide accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand.nnInstruct patient regarding preparation prior to imaging procedures including allergic reactions.nnAnalyze the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.nnDetermine whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure.nnAssess factors that may contraindicate procedure such as medications or insufficient patient preparation.nnSelect appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.nnAdminister contrast agents according to established guidelines (if applicable).nnObtain written consent prior to IV contrast administration.nnEvaluate lab values prior to administering contrast agents.nnDetermine appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered.nnMonitor patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media.nnComplete oral contrast screening form.nnObtain optimum images during exam/procedure.nnSet/adjust radiographic equipment.nnPosition patients to obtain diagnostic images per established protocols.nnUtilize CR equipment to maximize image quality (where applicable).nnSend images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist (where applicable).nnArchive images to CD's as needed (where applicable).nnDocument information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record (where applicable).nnVerify/enter correct order into RIS/HIS.nnDocument appropriate patient history into PACS system.nnDocument any exceptions from the established guidelines.nnScan appropriate documents into PACS system.nnComplete medication reconciliation documentation per department policy.nnFacilitate correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done in a timely manner (where applicable).nnWork with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER (if applicable) to accommodates STAT or ASAP orders.nnCoordinate patient care with other departments within Imaging/radiology.nnMaintain equipment and work station in optimum condition.nnPerform daily QC on radiographic equipment.nnAssure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.nnImplement downtime procedures when necessary (where applicable).nnCoordinate rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.nnInitiate established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.nnCognitive ability to function and concentrate on the essential and specialty functions of the job at a high level.nnAchieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing an essential or specialty function of the job.nnAbility to think and concentrate for an entire shift.nnOther duties as assigned.nnRequired QualificationsnnCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by ARRT.nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.nnPreferred QualificationsnnPrevious Radiology Technologist experience (1 year).nnLicense, Certification & ClearancesnnARRT registry eligible as a radiologic technologist.
