Job Title: Transportation Sustainability Specialist
Overview:
The Transportation Sustainability Specialist plays a critical role in advancing the organization's sustainability goals by collecting, analyzing, and reporting transportation-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. This role focuses on maintaining accurate GHG accounting, supporting emissions reduction strategies, and driving improvements in fleet efficiency and sustainability practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance systems to collect fuel usage, mileage, and other vehicle fleet data.
- Calculate Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 GHG emissions following established protocols (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064).
- Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate transportation emissions to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with teams to optimize fleet operations, increase alternative fuel use, and reduce emissions.
- Stay current on GHG accounting methodologies and best practices for the transportation sector.
- Provide data-driven insights to support decisions on fleet composition, route optimization, and supply chain logistics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in GHG accounting, emissions reporting, or sustainability data management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in sustainability, environmental management, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in GHG accounting standards and transportation-sector emissions.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and emissions calculation software.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of fleet management, logistics, and alternative fuel technologies.
