Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Planning GIS and Analytics, this position is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of advanced spatial analysis services, supporting GIS applications, system integration, and coordinating GIS work plans and projects. Assists planning and growth management (P&GM) staff with requests related to spatial data processing, management, automation and visualization. Creates and maintains GIS Data sets including the administration of data privacy levels among multiple staff, projects, departments, and external institutions/stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Spatial Analysis or a suitable equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years' experience managing and applying GIS data and analytics, web mapping, data management and advanced visualization techniques, preferably to solve urban planning challenges. Experience working with Municipal Government Projects and/or applying GIS methods to communicate urban planning policies and scenarios.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
• Proven high-level analytical, problem-solving skills and strategic thinking capacity
• Ability to effectively manage time and workload, focus on assigned tasks and delivery quality products Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS desktop (e.g. ArcGIS pro, City engine), ArcGIS Online, FME workbench, FME server, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Adobe creative suite, SQL, Management Studio
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and staff
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong interest in the application of GIS technology, motivated and self-starting focus. Strong organizational skills and ability to take on proactive approach
• Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City's core and leadership competencies and relevant functional competencies
• Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required.
