T&M has an exciting leadership opportunity for a Structural Department Manager in our Transportation Team! The Department Manager will lead multiple teams of engineers and designers, primarily managing local Group Managers directly, while providing technical expertise, project management, staff resource management, and coordinating the overall completion of technical deliverables and business outcomes across the region.
This Department Manager position will be located in T&M's Middletown, NJ office, although Structural teams may be based in other offices. Experience with clients such as NJDOT, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Delaware River Port Authority, and/or NJ counties is required.
Additional responsibilities will include client management, business development efforts, and collaboration with peer leaders across the company to support the team's collective success. This role provides the opportunity to engage with market leaders to help establish business plans for the Transportation practice and ensure alignment between these teams and the overall company strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering manager to assume a leadership role within a growing company.
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required. Master's Degree or MBA preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; licensure in the State of New Jersey preferred. - 15-20 years of related experience with technical and project management aspects of structural engineering, including bridges, steel structures, waterfront structures, and more.
- Candidate must have experience managing all aspects of large structural projects, including budgeting, design, testimony, client engagement, etc.
- Must possess relationships within the broader transportation community and demonstrate a strong track record of managing and completing successful projects.
- Candidate must have demonstrated business management experience, including workload forecasts, business planning, attainment of KPIs, invoicing/collections, recruitment, and staff development.
- Strong leadership skills, including team-building, collaboration, and participation in strategic planning.
- Well-organized, collaborative, self-motivated candidate with the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work both independently and within a team environment.
