Who You Are

You are a skilled relationship builder, possessing a deep understanding of marketing, and an ability to make meaningful connections. As the Head of Business Leadership (Account Management), you are skilled at unifying cross-functional teams to meet agency goals and client objectives. You are an inspiring leader and client contract closer. You motivate team members to deliver for Madwell and for our clients. This individual ensures client satisfaction and sets the pace and approach for developing strong client-agency relationships. The Head of Business Leadership leads and collaborates on key initiatives in people development, process improvements, and operational excellence, all in support of effective client delivery and great creative output. As a business leader, you possess strong financial acumen and effectively manage to achieve revenue forecast and margin. In this role you can cogently outline financial and staffing issues, getting out in front of any client, staffing or financial issues that might put the business at risk. The Head of Business Leadership is a seasoned agency leader who is leading senior level relationships, and operates internally and externally with integrity, empathy and respect.

What You'll Do

As Madwell's Head of Business Leadership, you'll help drive the agency's agenda to better impact our client relationships, creative output, and client-agency financial performance. You'll serve as a respected agency leader making significant, defined contributions to the agency's business. You'll oversee the Business Leadership team, partnering with Creative, Media, Production and Strategy. You'll help drive department excellence and success in areas such as account management, client assessment (scoping and fee negotiation), department assessment, staffing, training, execution, financial management and intra-agency relations. You'll identify potential deficiencies in agency capabilities/departments and work to remedy with the extended leadership team. You'll set a strategic plan, in conjunction with the President, and ensure it is being executed at scale across the agency to meet business objectives.

Specifically, you'll be responsible for:

Client Relationship Management/Building
  • Responsible for health of existing and new clients, creating bespoke process by client, ensuring profitability of business for agency and strong business outcome
  • Be the go-to for person for senior client contact if an issue needs escalating
  • Responsible for keeping in touch and maintaining relationships, making sure client health and identify red flags by requesting regular feedback and work to fix before issues become a problem
  • Build and nurtures relationships at senior levels within the client organization through regular communication and leadership of quarterly business reviews
  • Know how Client's performance is measured and grounds agency solutions in what matters most to our Clients
  • Work collaboratively with Creative, Media, Production, and Strategy leaders to ensure teams are working optimally to deliver solutions that are on strategy and meet Client's needs


Business Leadership Team Management
  • Provide strong, engaged leadership; effectively directs team members to meet expectations and accomplish organizational, team and individual goals
  • Responsible for organic growth within existing clients and mentoring Account leads to identify key growth opportunities
  • Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management and training and development
  • Leadership and guidance of Account leads, strengthening and growing the next level of leaders
  • Organizational leader, highly refined, positive integral relationships at all levels


New Business and Organic Growth
  • Support President and Owner/Chief Creative Strategy Officer in developing new relationships with prospective clients, pitch consultants, oversees/participates in new business pitches on behalf of the agency
  • Define process and ways of working for each pitch, optimizing approach and outcome
  • Work with Business Leadership teams to exploit organic growth mid-contract and upon contract renewals


Business Development/Marketing
  • Support the President in the PR function and management of PR agency
  • Push Creative and Business Leadership teams for PR and award worthy campaigns


Financial Management/Agency Operations
  • Direct partnership with President and Head of Finance for management of Client scopes and budgets, working closely with President and Head of Finance to improve, optimize, and enforce financial practices with the Agency
  • Responsible for client based profitability, optimizing team structures, ways of working, approach to MSA/SOW to ensure best financial outcome
  • Work collaboratively with President, Head of Finance and Head of Production/Project Management to ensure staffing plans are in place and teams are ready to deliver for clients and accounts are staffed and casting properly with client goals and objectives in mind

Salary Range: $190,000 - $240,000
