Position Overview

Position Overview: The Corporate Communications team at Apollo, which leads all communication and corporate marketing activities, is seeking a Director who is a self-starter with strong writing and presentation skills, excellent project management skills and exceptional judgement. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong communication and organization skills, helping the team to successfully manage firm and executive communications efforts in a manner that is proactive, strategic, holistic, and serves both internal and external stakeholders.

The Director will focus his or her efforts on enterprise-wide initiatives, including Sustainability (ESG & Impact), Citizenship including the Apollo Opportunity Foundation, Apollo's affinity groups and Expanding Opportunity efforts. The Director will be the primary developer - in partnership with key stakeholders -- of written messaging, presentations and other content and materials such as press releases, talking points, briefing documents, employee communications, digital content, and other written correspondence regarding these important value drivers for the firm. In addition, this person will be responsible for coordinating with the broader team, including international offices to ensure messages are incorporated in broader business materials and ladder up to our purpose and core values.

The ideal candidate has unquestionable integrity, is passionate about our work, has the presence to work with senior leaders and work collaboratively with teams across the firm to best position the company and its diverse global business segments to relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and compelling voice.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a strategic corporate communications leader coordinating with internal clients, primarily senior leaders from sustainability, human capital, corporate citizenship and DE&I
  • Craft communications messages and written materials that are comprehensive, creative and consistent with the firm's business objectives and culture
  • Identify key speaking opportunities and events - both internally and externally - where we can demonstrate our commitment to Sustainability, Expanding Opportunity and Citizenship
  • Serve as a member of relevant stakeholder working groups as strategic comms leader
  • Candidate is expected to spend a majority of their time on AGM-level corporate and executive initiatives, including internal and external communications, as well as ~25% of time on communications related to investment activities including the sustainable investing platform and, as applicable, crises
  • Compose/edit press releases, talking points, briefing documents, employee communications, digital content, presentations, and written correspondence
  • Identify and spearhead new initiatives to enhance corporate communications activities
  • Collaborate with communications colleagues to manage outside advisory and vendor relationships


Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Self-starter, team player and go-getter capable of demonstrating the utmost discretion
  • Strong knowledge of Apollo's business and industry
  • Critical thinker who utilizes excellent judgement in decision-making
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities; excellent project management skills
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic and passionate work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style, responding quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and organizational skills; and experience or deep understanding in communicating across varied platforms and technologies
  • Skilled in distilling/synthesizing information) in a succinct and uniform manner
  • Strong attention to detail when composing and proofing materials required
  • Strong project/time management skills; effective at prioritizing competing demands and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates poise, tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in all matters; excellent representative of our leadership team


Pay Range
150,000-180,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
