    Job Requirements
  • Department: ICU RN
  • Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS & TNCC / TCAR / or experience with the care of trauma patients
  • NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT
  • FIT TESTING / FACIAL HAIR
  • # of Beds: 4
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 depending on acuity
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: DKA, sepsis pts, respiratory failure, cardiac(rate and rhythm control), medical detox, art lines, CVP
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Those typical to an ICU
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: No- ER is in charge of ICU
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: No
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to vent
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RN required to read and interpret
  • Floating Requirements: MS or ER (for 1:1)
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7
  • Weekend Requirements: Will work where there is a need
  • Holiday Requirements: Will work where there is a need
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3- 12 hour shifts

  • Attributes that make a nurse successful in this unit include coachability, motivation, ability to understand and coach unsafe situations, and teamwork
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
