Senior Buyer Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the procurement process for production raw materials, ensuring on-time delivery, and optimizing inventory levels.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms for price, inventory levels, payment, and delivery.
- Develop and execute project management plans, ensuring all procurement projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Source and evaluate new suppliers, managing supplier relationships to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.
- Create, manage, and analyze reports and schedules to maintain required inventory levels and support production needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and project management, to determine procurement needs and develop strategic plans.
- Participate in and lead corporate Supply Chain Initiatives and project work, including low-cost sourcing projects and actions associated with Engineered Product Offerings (EPO’s).
- Manage and issue monthly supplier scorecards and forecast planning reports.
- Resolve invoice and receiving issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure compliance with quality system guidelines related to ISO 9001:2015.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers, resolving issues fairly and ethically.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior purchasing staff, promoting professional growth and development within the team.
Senior Buyer Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 5+ years of purchasing experience, or 10+ years of purchasing experience in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Working knowledge of MRP system planning and other procurement software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management or Project Management (such as PMP) is a plus.
