PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing support for the financial portion of the Finance Department. Position reconciles bank accounts and general ledger accounts; assists with month-end close and journal voucher process; maintains Sage fixed asset system, and prepares monthly reports and various financial documents.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Accounting Manager and does not supervise staff. The position works closely with accounting and finance, information services, customer service, and various state departments for sales and tax-related items.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Principles and practices of basic accounting, debits/credits, income, and expenses.
- Office administrative and management practices and procedures, including record keeping and filing.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
ABILITY TO:
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate correspondence, documents, reports and other written materials.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of records; organize, research and maintain sensitive, confidential
- Identify discrepancies, research root cause, and work within team to help resolve.
- Exchange straightforward information, ask questions and check for understanding.
- Follow task outline, be organized, and communicate time conflicts as needed.
- Use computers and computer software including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Meet behaviors established in Tree Top's performance management and development process.
EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred; or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role; or an equivalent combination of higher education in finance or accounting and work experience.
