DESCRIPTION:  

Newly renovated, premier beachfront hotel in Santa Monica is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join the team. This position is geared towards capturing Group Sales for our property that embodies coastal luxury, tranquility, and the quintessential California seaside escape. The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. Knowledge of the Santa Monica area, clientele and a network of key industry contacts is a huge plus! The Sales Manager must have experience with Group sales and the position reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Move throughout property to conduct site inspections. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Travel locally to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel and review competition.
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Represent hotel at trade shows. Set up exhibits involving bending, stooping, lifting and reaching overhead.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to generate group bookings and maximize revenue.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and travel agencies to secure group business.
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, contracts, and negotiations to win group bookings.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create targeted campaigns and promotional materials for group customers.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments, including catering and events, to ensure seamless execution of group bookings.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, market trends, and customer feedback to optimize sales strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and revenue forecasts.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in group sales in the hospitality industry. Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to effectively communicate with guests in a friendly and positive manner, to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints. Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and building client relationships. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and increase ITR. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and various hotel sales systems is a plus. Knowledge of the Santa Monica market and key industry contacts is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Base annual salary of $85,000
  • Quarterly Bonus potential up to 35%
  • Medical plans including health, vision and dental
