BHS Corrugated is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our growing team in our Charlotte, NC facility!
Summary:
This position is responsible for the payroll processing for BHS Robotics and Field Service Technicians at BHS Corrugated. This position is also responsible for benefits administration for both BHS North America and BHS Robotics, including new hire enrollment, open enrollment, claims issues, and legal compliance in both areas. The ideal candidate will also have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This is a hybrid position in Charlotte, NC and requires less than 20% travel.
Responsibilities:
Payroll administration for BHS Robotics and Field Service Technicians
- First point of contact for employees for the time & attendance and payroll function at BHS Robotics and for Field Service Technicians at BHS Corrugated.
- Work with the third-party payroll provider in order to accurately process biweekly payroll for approximately 40 employees at BHS Robotics and 75 employees at BHS Corrugated.
- Maintain confidential payroll information and perform data entry for all payroll transactions such as:
new hires, terminations, transfers, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments, child support orders, direct deposits, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, and state/federal/local taxes.
- Ensure the timely and accurate distribution of paychecks and quarterly/annual tax filings.
- Prepare and process electronic transmission of payroll data such as 401k deferrals and HSA deposits for BHS Robotics.
- Maintain the HRIS systems for BHS Robotics and Field Service Technicians and compiles monthly and ad hoc reports.
- Prepares monthly and annual reports as requested by various state and federal entities.
- Participates in the annual financial audit.
- Prepare and process tasks specific for year-end activities for payroll and benefits.
- Assists with tracking, analyzing and reporting employment metrics as requested.
- Serves as back-up for BHS North America payroll.
Benefits
- First point of contact for employee benefit questions and concerns, providing guidance and resolution.
- Benefits administration for all company benefits including but not limited to: 401k, medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, life and disability, COBRA, wellness, AMEX, and Kudos.
- Process enrollments, claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Participate in the annual open enrollment process, including but not limited to preparing and distributing communication materials.
- Maintain benefit integration files between the HRIS and benefit carriers.
- Reconciles insurance invoices on a monthly basis. Investigates discrepancies, as necessary, and works with carriers to resolve problems and avoid issues in the future.
- Manage and track leave of absences, short-term disability, and family medical leave requests.
- Administration of 401k Plan – responsible for compliance reporting (i.e. non-discrimination testing), ensures compliance with regulations regarding educational communication to employees; oversees processing of paperwork; assists with any problems and questions.
- Provide data for annual audits, 5500 reports, EEO- 1, etc. as requested, ensuring timely filings.
- Lead New Hire Orientation to educate new hires on Payroll and Benefits.
Miscellaneous
- Responds to employment verification requests
- Completes annual requirements for Motor Vehicles checks.
- File auto claims with insurance carrier, provides follow-up as necessary.
- Run salary studies using salary software and provide recommendations for compensation adjustments.
- Administrator of corporate American Express account.
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in payroll administration, preferably ADP Workforce Now.
- Detailed knowledge of payroll compliance and working knowledge state/federal employment laws and regulations.
- 5+ years experience in employee benefits administration.
- Proficiency or expertise in Microsoft Excel (Advanced level)
- Possess a tech-savvy mindset and passion for end-to end design and improvement.
- Ability to communicate well with employees and managers.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs to include Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with various levels of difficulty in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work at computer for 8 hours a day and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Strong professionalism and the ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to travel within the US up to 20% of the time.
- This is a hybrid role and will report to our office in Charlotte, NC 2-3 days per week
Pay & Benefits:
This is a full-time position offering a salary of $65k - $75k plus benefits as seen below:
