We are seeking a Senior Project Planner , based out of our Toronto or Montreal office.


Purpose of the role:

The role of the Senior Planner is to provide a complete project planning service to the project team, to produce and manage project time schedules to the required level of detail and in accordance with the DRA Procedure in either Microsoft Project or Primavera. Project Planners work in collaboration with the Project Team. The person in this position will oversee the process through to completion and monitor the progress of the project relative to the agreed time frame.


Responsibilities:

  • Gathers all relevant documentation to fully understand the scope of the project.
  • Manages activity coding to support the client’s and own reporting requirements.
  • Facilitates Enhanced Systematic Planning (ESP) sessions.
  • Develops and maintains CPM schedules for both studies and execution projects.
  • Reviews schedules with discipline leads to obtain ownership of the schedule.
  • Loads the resource schedule, using agreed weighting method.
  • Creates project S-curves and other KPIs for reporting, such as SPI.
  • Maintains ownership of deliverables list with regards to RoC and progress.
  • Periodically updates the schedule and issues progress reports.
  • Communicates early warnings of deviations to the plan.
  • Suggests corrective actions and develop recovery plans.
  • Coordinates sub-contractor’s manufacturing, procurement & construction plans.
  • Assists Procurement staff to develop and maintain the POP (Procurement Operating Plan).
  • Develops and maintains Key Date Schedules.
  • Maintains close interaction with all disciplines to ensure targets are met.
  • Develops a Basis of Schedule document.
  • Leads and is responsible for the development of overall baseline in accordance with contract.
  • Monitors actual job progress, compares it to the baseline and reports progress against schedule.
  • Forecasts the impact of proposed changes on the schedule.
  • Prepares reporting dashboards in coordination with all disciplines.
  • Monitors critical path/activities based on the project schedule and advises project management.
  • Undertakes delay analysis and ensures the project is compliant to demonstrate planning compliance to the contract and for forensic auditing.
  • Ensures all delivery streams provide accurate, reliable and traceable data to meet reporting obligations.
  • Takes appropriate planning measures with all clients to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work and maintains client communication planning and reporting
  • Ensures all contractors have an approved schedule that is aligned with and supports the overall project targets.
  • Visit site when required.
  • Provides input to tender schedules when requested.
  • Assists and contributes to the continuous improvement of standards.
  • Provides assistance to junior and intermediate planners when required.
  • Contributes to monthly reporting of the project both internally and externally.


Qualifications:

  • English and French language capabilities
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in MS Projects and Primavera P6
