We are seeking a Piping Designer , based out of our Toronto or Montreal office.
Reporting to DRA’s Design Office Manager in the Americas, you will be responsible for translating engineering requirements and definitions into practical, fit for purpose drawings, within specified quality and time parameters.
Projects will include aspects of civil, structural and materials handling engineering with small groups working closely alongside one another. The Piping Designer should be self-motivated and able to work on projects of varying complexity ranging from simple line diagrams through to detailed drawings on multi-disciplined engineering projects.
Responsibilities:
The roles and responsibilities for the Piping Designer position will include:
• Report to the Lead Piping Designer and /or Design Office Manager.
• Adhere to all drawing office procedures and document control standards.
• Multi-discipline capabilities and be familiar with various industrial piping design codes and standards
• Routing and dressing of pipe lines as well as prepare and/or develop Isometric drawings from design concepts by Senior Piping Designer within the discipline or from design documents of the front-end disciplines.
• Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
• Ability to interact with process, mechanical, electrical and civil engineers.
• Understand and interpret process flow diagrams and piping & instrument diagrams.
Requirements:
• Mechanical engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community college.
• 5 + years of experience in Process Plant Design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Plant 3D and MS Office applications.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good organizational, technical, writing, communication and computer skills.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively.
• Possess good problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate these ideas to peers and engineers.
