Title: Senior Lab Technician

Shift: 10:00 PM - 06:30 AM
Role Expectations:
- Uses established methods to verify the quality of incoming raw materials and outgoing products.
- Prepares laboratory reagents; files and retains samples in appropriate holding areas; enters test data into our SAP or LIMS systems; files vendor certifications, raw materials, and production inspections in the proper location.
- Participates in general housekeeping, including routine cleaning and maintenance, and performs other duties requested by management.
- Responsible for all steps of routine experimentation, including sample prep, equipment orientation, instrument control, data processing, and analysis.
- Prepares reagents and ensures standardization of reagents, method assurance, and method performance evaluations. Documents the test results and reports all discrepancies.
- Can set up methods on vendor software (HPLC, GC, AA, auto-titrator, FT-IR, etc.).
- Can perform and document periodic calibration and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
- Tests and evaluates the use of salvage/rework material before its introduction into new production batches.
- Conducts re-examination of borderline results and communicates opportunities for process improvements.
- Provides analytical and technical support for quality-related product investigations.
- Completes data reviews for out-of-specification test results, issuing SPC charts of historical results.
- Recommends testing parameters and completes experiments and project work as assigned.
- Optimizes and recommends lab improvements to support 5S initiatives.
- Multi-tasks between many projects to ensure the various completion deadlines are met.
- Monitors laboratory inventory (quantity and expiration date).
Requirements
- The successful candidate will possess a four-year degree in science; Chemistry is preferred, but Biology, Physics, etc., will also be considered.
- Typically requires 2-5 years of related experience using wet chemistry and testing oil-based products.
- Experience with ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, FTIR, and titrations (manual and automatic).
- SAP or LIMS computer systems are a plus.
- The ideal applicant will work well in a fast-paced environment and will be able to handle stressful situations constructively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
