Downtown San Diego business law firm of five attorneys and three part-time of counsel attorneys seeks a paralegal with an ABA approved paralegal certificate to support the litigation team. Interested candidates should email a cover letter with a resume and a Paralegal Certificate to .
The successful candidate will have proficient computer skills, be able to multi-task, possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) within a team setting, and be extremely detailed oriented with formatting, proofreading, grammar, spelling and writing skills, and be comfortable with technology. The candidate must be able to handle multiple projects without constant supervision, and be proactive, organized, and punctual. Prior paralegal experience is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Full time employment, Monday through Friday, in person;
- Compiling information for discovery responses, pleadings, motions, depositions, and trial preparation are essential functions of this role;
- Calendaring hearing, motion, and case deadlines;
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal rules and filing requirements;
- Preparing and drafting responses to written discovery;
- Document management, including e-discovery;
- Client communications and scheduling appointments, including Office365 Teams and Zoom meetings;
- Inputting time worked into billing system software;
- General office administration, including opening mail and distribution; and
- Answering phones and greeting clients are shared responsibilities with one other paralegal.
Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years working as a litigation paralegal;
- The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel;
- Must be comfortable with technology and have e-discovery experience;
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate;
- Strong organizational, written & verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities;
- Experience with hourly billing;
- Notary Public is a plus, not a requirement
