Job Description

Bachoco OK Foods is seeking a Plant Manager for our Heavener, OK location.

Summary: Provides leadership, strategic operational plans, direction for supervision of entire slaughter and cut-up departments, and consultation. Performs administrative duties in preparing and maintaining records, reviews production and HIMP reports, and follows through on deviations from expected results and sets goals for the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs production and HIMP departments in carrying out their programs.
  • Performs administrative duties in preparing and analyzing reports and records.
  • Actively pursues acquisition and/or skills for management of the slaughter facilities.
  • Manages the training and learning experiences of subordinates to continually improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains close and effective working relationship with all live production, labs, quality control, vendors, accounting, government agencies, USDA, and sales department.
  • Selects and holds accountable all subordinates in slaughter facilities.
  • Keeps upper management informed with timely and sufficient information.
  • Must be very knowledgeable in HACCP.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate assistant plant manager, maintenance & refrigeration manager, superintendents, and supervisors who supervise over 600 employees in the processing facility. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and previous poultry processing plant operations management experience. Poultry management experience required. Experience in slaughter, portioning and further processing. Must possess analytical business knowledge.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
