The Company:
Our client is a fast-growing food manufacturer with over 15 years of history producing premium food products. With a focus on quality, health and taste, their products are distributed across Canada, the USA and Internationally!
With major growth plans for 2025 they will be moving into a larger production facility and warehouse.
The Opportunity:
Champion all day-to-day production, measuring KPIs, and helping better utilize an ERP system. Work cross functionally with Warehouse, Continuous Improvement, Finance, and Sales to delivery strong Operational results.
Lead a site relocation along with the Senior Leadership team; this position will oversee all production lines, supervisors, and staff within all shifts to ensure and maximize efficiencies. The incumbent will report directly to the General Manager and coordinate with Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement and QA functional areas. Responsible to oversee the overall operation of the plant, production lines while departmentally managing budgeted expenses.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety codes and policies
- Ensures that operations consistently meets established product quality standards
- Works with various departmental programs and assumes the lead in production and manpower planning
- Ensures that production/packaging SOP’s are adjusted as required, and adhered to by all staff.
- Ensures that food safety and GMP’s are adhered to and that any deviations are investigated and addressed in conjunction with QA’s process.
- Close working relationship with QA is required to ensure adherence to all quality and safety established standards and compliance with all certifications and programs
- Shop floor supervision of all aspects of production and packaging processes, ensuring established throughput targets are met, with proactive efforts to avoid possible breaches in fluid production/packaging processes.
- Monitoring and adherence to targeted KPI’s with regular measurement and tracking throughout each shift
- Supervision of Team Leaders on each shift to ensure their responsibility for monitoring and adhering to throughput targets, with documentation on each shift for reasons for deviations and details and timeliness of required corrective actions
- Ensures information technology processes are effective to fully support the requirements of the operation and report on areas of weakness and possible improvements
- Work closely with Continuous Improvement Manager to identify areas of possible productivity improvements, assist in the implementation of planned modifications to process flow and/or equipment, and with any ongoing or planned projects
- Work closely with Supply Chain, ensuring that their minimum production requirements for customer fulfilment are met, and general sales order and logistics coordination
- Promoting positive culture and enthusiasm on the shop floor, promoting priorities of safety, product quality and meeting productivity targets, with respect to co-worker relationships and fostering teamwork amongst production/packaging staff of all levels, and with all staff of other functional areas
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates and management staff
- Responsible for the overall financial success of the department
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define project milestones, objectives, requirements and attribute prioritization
- Recruits, selects, trains and coaches staff in Operations
- Display working knowledge of technical specifications of raw materials to drive performance to reduce costs and liaison with QA
- Participate in the Operations team efforts to improve finished product quality
- Maintain a close and open communication with the entire organization at the management level and design models to ensure a good understanding of the technical constraint and opportunities in order to improve and optimize the future design of products
- Conducts team member meetings to ensure strong communication on company initiatives, goals and objectives
- Assume all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President and General Manager
- Assume responsibility of relocation of production from existing facility to larger facility – includes all aspects of planning and execution of the physical move
Key Qualifications & Competencies:
- Post-secondary education.
- Minimum 10 years experience in operations, preferably in the food service/manufacturing sector
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must have a strong understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation and implementation in a manufacturing company
