Coriell Institute for Medical Research is seeking an energetic and organized Contract Specialist to join our Finance Department.
The Contract Specialist will be responsible for supporting Coriell’s contract management inclusive of: overseeing new agreements, management of existing contracts with internal/external stakeholders, and serving as a liaison to Coriell legal for both scientific and business contracts.
This position is an active member of the Coriell Finance department and works in coordination with many internal stakeholders on a day-to-day basis. This role is an individual contributor.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Contract Specialist is responsible for the following duties, although not limited to:
- Manage onboarding, review and lifecycle of complex technical and commercial contracts, and conduct correspondence with all stakeholders regarding contract review items and status of contract requests
- Audit of contracts to ensure implementation is in accordance with agreements and policies
- Proactively revising standing agreements based on evolving project needs; including drafting new contract templates
- Collaborative and flexible with both business and scientific agreements
- Effectively interface with cross-functional teams to support Institute business and objectives
- Ability to successfully manage a deadline-driven work environment
- Liaison to external counsel on behalf of Coriell
- Other duties, projects, audits as required and assigned, based on business needs and necessities.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in the file of law, business management/economics, or other similar fields of study is required for this role.
Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered for candidates with extensive previous experience applicable to the work done at Coriell.
Experience:
3-7 years of experience in a similar setting is preferred, especially experience/knowledge of Sponsored Projects, Various Business Agreements, Technology Transfers, MTAs, and B2B agreements. Prior experience using a contractual management system is also highly preferred.
Competencies Needed:
Ability to work independently, without much direction or oversight,
Organization skills is a must, specifically an ability to keep up-to-date regarding dates of interests within existing agreements,
Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required, especially an ability to navigate and comprehend legal agreements and documents,
Excellent business and negotiation skills is preferred, given the scope of agreements this role will be overseeing,
Ability to work with cross-functional and diverse internal stakeholders.
