Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated psychiatrist to lead our Psychiatry Department as the Director of Psychiatry. This leadership position involves overseeing clinical operations, providing psychiatric evaluations and management, as well as guiding and mentoring psychiatric providers. The Director of Psychiatry will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care, while also participating in the administrative aspects of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for patients at one or more clinic sites.
• Screen, assess, and evaluate walk-in patients in crisis situations.
• Perform emergency psychiatric evaluations and provide appropriate interventions, which may include medication therapies or immediate referrals to inpatient facilities.
• Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner(s) and provide peer reviews for behavioral health providers.
• Offer clinical consultation to healthcare providers across the organization.
• Coordinate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
• Serve as a liaison to the Health Homes programs and facilitate collaboration between medical staff and external agencies.
• Review and update medical policies related to behavioral health and communicate necessary changes.
• Prescribe appropriate medication treatment and manage patient care, referring to specialists when necessary.
• Periodically assess clinical services' efficiency and quality, ensuring the highest standards are met.
• Participate in leadership meetings, including regular consultations with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
• Lead the Ethics Committee of the Medical Executive Committee.
• Oversee the performance evaluation process and ensure the proper orientation of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York City license to practice Medicine and Psychiatry.
• Medical degree from an approved Medical School.
• Completion of residency training in Psychiatry from an approved program.
• A minimum of five (5) years of post-training clinical experience.
• Experience in medical leadership or management is preferred.
• Ability to obtain hospital admitting privileges.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule: Monday – Friday (Exact hours to be determined; late hours typically Tuesday-Thursday)

Additional Information:

• This position requires a combination of clinical patient care (60%) and administrative responsibilities (40%).
• The Director of Psychiatry is expected to see 14-18 patients daily, with one day dedicated to administrative work.
