Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our team. This role requires deep knowledge of material science, metallurgical processes, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges with a heavy Quality focus. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of materials, including metals, alloys, and composite materials, and will contribute to product development, owning quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead metallurgical investigations, process development, and failure analysis for new and existing materials and products.
  • Develop and optimize metallurgical processes for product manufacturing, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Heavy focus on plant level quality systems
  • Conduct material selection and perform metallurgical testing to ensure performance under various conditions.
  • Work closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure materials and processes meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Analyze and interpret metallurgical data to provide actionable recommendations for process improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise to support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues or material failures.
  • Mentor junior metallurgist and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to drive continuous innovation in metallurgical practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in metallurgy or materials science, with a strong background in material characterization, process development, and failure analysis.
  • AS 9100 Quality Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, composites, and surface treatments.
  • Proven experience with metallurgical testing techniques
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in using metallurgical software and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership or project management role.
  • Knowledge of Metallurgy processes and Quality
  • Experience in Industrial Metals
