Job Summary
The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will use their expertise to resolve complex manufacturing issues in an aerospace production environment.
Responsibilities
- Automation and Control Systems: Evaluate, select, and integrate robotic systems, control systems, and other automation technologies to automate manufacturing processes.
- PLC Programming and HMI Development: Develop and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to control and monitor manufacturing processes.
- Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing infrastructure, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems.
- Develop and execute test plans, perform system integration tests, and validate automation solutions against defined specifications.
- Troubleshoot and debug automation systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of automation systems.
- Create and maintain documentation, including user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM?s) and troubleshooting guides for automation systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate risks associated with automated systems.
- Design and create human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for operators to interact with and monitor automated systems.
- Ensure seamless integration between PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required, Master's Degree in Engineering a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation technologies including robotics, software programming, tooling and test equipment design.
- Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
- Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and coordination of automation projects
- Proficiency in VisualBasic 6.0 is required.
- Proficiency in programming languages used in automation, such as ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram, Lab View, C++, Python, Java are preferred.
