The Configuration & Infrastructure Network Engineer Services – Level III is a lead-level role responsible for overseeing the design, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex network systems. This role involves managing and mentoring lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors while ensuring that IT systems comply with industry standards and organizational specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills in networking technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the design, installation, and configuration activities of junior technicians, engineers, and contractors.
- Act as a lead in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of:
- Local Area Networks (LAN)
- Wireless Networks
- VoIP Systems
- IP Public Address/Intercom Systems
- IP Video Camera Systems
- Analyze and resolve complex networking issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Review and evaluate IT system designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and District specifications.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and products, assisting in the development of new standards and specifications.
- Set priorities, manage timelines, and successfully complete tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
- Clearly and effectively communicate technical solutions, ideas, and updates both verbally and in writing.
- Perform related tasks, including but not limited to:
- Conducting site surveys and developing scopes of work.
- Creating bills of material (BOM) and asset workbooks.
- Accepting equipment deliveries at the warehouse and managing inventory.
- Generating project status updates and completion reports.
- Installing and troubleshooting converged network equipment.
- Maintain effective relationships with District personnel, vendors, and external organizations to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience in network engineering with a strong understanding of LAN/WAN, VoIP systems, wireless networks, and IP-based technologies.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex networking problems.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams of technicians, engineers, and contractors.
- Proficiency in conducting site surveys, developing scopes of work, and maintaining project documentation.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to set priorities and manage tasks to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
