Position Overview:
The Senior Scheduler will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient completion of heavy civil construction projects. This position requires a highly skilled professional with a deep understanding of scheduling principles and construction processes. The Senior Scheduler will develop and manage project schedules, coordinate with various stakeholders, and provide expert analysis to support project success. The ideal candidate must be a proactive self-starter, work well under high stress, and manage time effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development: Create, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6).
- Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that scheduling aligns with project goals and requirements.
- Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against the baseline schedule, identify deviations, and develop corrective action plans to mitigate delays.
- Reporting: Prepare and present bi-weekly and monthly schedule reports, including progress updates, forecasts, and critical path analyses to senior management and clients. Must be able to meet critical deadlines.
- Resource Management: Assess resource needs and availability, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet project timelines.
- Risk Management: Identify potential scheduling risks and develop strategies to address them, ensuring minimal impact on project delivery.
- Change Management: Evaluate the impact of changes to the project scope, design, or resources, and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation related to project schedules, changes, and performance metrics.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in scheduling, implementing improvements to enhance scheduling processes and tools.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in scheduling for heavy civil construction projects, with a proven track record of managing complex schedules.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and critical path analysis.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a strong capacity for analyzing complex data and making informed decisions.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders and present information clearly.
- Specialized Experience: Experience in heavy civil construction, including highways, bridges, underground utilities (water, sewer, storm), and roadways.
